Dalip Awasthi

Dalip Awasthi is the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager of Third Crest, a systematic equities hedge fund.  Prior to starting at Moelis in May of 2021, Dalip was a founding partner of Awasthi Capital, LLC d/b/a Third Crest Capital.  Dalip founded Third Crest Capital to develop and implement market-beating quantitative and algorithmic investment strategies.  Prior to Third Crest, Dalip managed an investment portfolio of Asian telecommunications and technology equities and was an early investor in the high-growth Indian Telecommunications sector.  Prior to that, Dalip was a Managing Director with Lehman Brothers and managed their Relative Value Fund in New York.  Previously, Dalip was the Head of Asian Credit Research at Lehman Brothers, Tokyo, the Head of Asian Fixed Income Credit Research at UBS, Singapore and the Head of Convertibles Research at PaineWebber, New York.  Dalip has an MBA from Tulane University, New Orleans and received the Wall Street Journal Award for outstanding achievement in finance, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a B.A. Economics with a First Class from the University of Bombay. Dalip was appointed by the Governor of the State of North Carolina to the North Carolina State Banking Commission and to the North Carolina State Supplemental Retirement Board of Trustees.
